Looks as though we’ll be in California on Election Day.  I hadn’t really factored getting an absentee ballot into my plans for the next few months, but so it goes.  I was kind of excited to sit home and watch the returns, but I guess I’ll be doing that with one of our characters working on Prop. 11 in California.

Of course, as with all things Gerrymandering-related these days, it’s up in the air who that will be.  The next three weeks or so are going to be all about logistics, so much so that I’m worried about keeping up with my reading.  I just received a copy of Redistricting in Comparative Perspective which looks at redistricting practices in a number of different countries.  This should come in handy for our recently-added international section which will look at a couple of examples from around the globe for contrast.

Gerrymandering has certainly grown over its long development process: where once we focused almost exclusively on Texas, now we’ll be looking at six different states and two countries.  I’ll let you know which ones in the coming weeks.

It looks as though Gerrymandering will begin shooting on 10/20 in California.  This is still tentative as we rush to schedule interviews, book flights and deal with the implications of the upcoming presidential elections, but we’re very close to locking this in.

Much more to come shortly.
